Friedson Tapped as Montgomery County Collaboration Council Chair
Takes Helm After Serving as Treasurer for Organization Serving County’s At-Risk Youth

Rockville, Md. – At their Board Meeting on Wednesday, the Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth, and Families voted to appoint Andrew Friedson of Bethesda to serve as Chair through November 2018. Friedson was originally appointed to serve on the Board in 2014 by County Executive Ike Leggett, and was reappointed to a second term this fall. He takes over after serving as the Collaboration Council’s Treasurer and Chair of the Board’s Fiscal Committee during a period of significant revenue growth. As Treasurer, Friedson and the Collaboration Council’s leadership oversaw a streamlining and modernization of the organization’s financial accounting, placing the organization in the best financial shape in memory. Friedson succeeds Gabriel Albornoz, Director of the County’s Department of Recreation.

Andrew Friedson previously served as Senior Policy Advisor for the Comptroller of Maryland, a role he left this fall to pursue a run for the Montgomery County Council District 1 seat being vacated by Roger Berliner.

About the Collaboration Council:

Since 1992, The Montgomery County Collaboration Council for Children, Youth and Families has brought together public and private service providers to address the needs of Montgomery County, Maryland’s children under the age of 18, and their families. One in four county residents fits this youthful profile. Designated as a Local Management Board by the State of Maryland, the Montgomery County Collaboration Council’s purpose is to be a catalyst so that agencies and other groups can collaborate to achieve positive results in the community. Now a quasi-public non-profit, the Collaboration Council’s work continues to grow and change to meet the ever-evolving needs of the county’s residents.
